Our Coaching Philosophy

We believe coaching is a collaborative learning partnership built on trust, respect, and curiosity. Every learner brings unique experiences, strengths, and goals, and my role is to support—not direct—their learning journey.

Grounded in the principles of adult education, our approach emphasizes critical thinking, confidence, and practical skill development. Together, we create strategies that support academic success, professional growth, and lifelong learning, with the goal of helping learners become more independent, reflective, and empowered in their educational and career journeys.

About Steph

As a PhD student at the University of Toronto, my research explores how people learn through community, work, and everyday life. This perspective shapes every coaching relationship I build—learning isn’t simply about getting the right answer; it’s about developing the confidence, strategies, and critical thinking skills that last well beyond a single assignment or course.

I’ve worked with students at a University of Toronto writing centre, helping learners strengthen their academic writing, research, and communication skills. I’ve also served as a teaching assistant, peer advisor, facilitator, and mentor, supporting students at different stages of their educational journeys.

Throughout my career, I have designed and delivered presentations, facilitated workshops, and supported learning in professional and community settings. My experience includes coaching individuals as they develop new skills, navigate workplace challenges, and pursue career advancement. I have worked alongside professionals, educators, and organizations to create engaging learning experiences that strengthen communication, critical thinking, and professional practice.

Whether you’re navigating post-secondary education, preparing for graduate studies, developing workplace skills, or pursuing a lifelong learning goal, my aim is to create a supportive, collaborative environment where you can build confidence, strengthen your skills, and reach your full potential.
